Surrounding Area

Dun Daraich Stables nestles peacefully in Glen Finart, Ardentinny where riders, walkers and cyclists can explore the surrounding forest and admire the stunning views over Loch Long from the many forest tracks that climb and encircle the hillside.  Ardentinny Beach, (popular in the summer but wonderfully quiet the rest of the year) and the shore line is a short distance away along a quiet country road.

Glen Finart Deer Farm and Hotel is just along the road from the stables and within the village of Ardentinny itself there is a small Church and the Ardentinny Hotel.  The village Hall hosts events such as an Annual Flower Show and visitors should check the notice board there for what's on.

It is possible to ride, walk or cycle further along the shore road to the villages of Blairmore, Strone and Kilmun.  At Blaimore there is a convenience store and an art and craft gallery with cafe opposite the pier where the paddle steamer the Waverly puts ashore during the summer.  In Kilmun there is a cafe wine bar.

In the opposite direction the road climbs up over the Larach to the Whistlefield, an old coaching inn serving all day food with views over Loch Eck.  The Whistlefield also offers B&B as well as Bunk House accomodation.

Also on Lock Eckside is the Coylet Inn offering food and accomodation.

A liitle further afield we have Benmore Gardens, gift shop and cafe, the small town of Dunoon with all local amenities, the historic town of Inverary with it's old Jail and Court House and on the shore of Loch Fyne, the home of Loch Fyne Oysters and the Tree Shop.

There are a number of caravan and camping sites as well as hotels, Bed and Breakfast and self catering providers in the surrounding areas.
