Perry Wood

"Elaine and Bill have created a place that feels 'just right' for horses and people to be... even sitting in their tack room is like a little piece of being home, drinking hot tea and talking about horses, horses, horses. I see the horses are happy there and ithat makes me happy."

"Having had the privilege of knowing and working with Elaine Allan for nearly 10 years I can honestly say you will be hard pushed to find a more trustworthy and experienced horsewoman.  Her knowledge and ability to care for remedial, ill or elderly horses is second to none and her husbandry skills are exemplary.

Elaine is currently one of our Equido Trainers and we are honoured to have her on our team.  I trust very few people with the care of my horses but would rest easy if I knew Elaine was looking after my boys."

"There is a quote which I feel reflects the whole ethos of Dun Daraich Stables:

"the fastest way to train a horse is by going slow"

Dun Daraich is situated within a peaceful setting surrounded by mountains and lochs.  Which provides a tranquil, safe and relaxed atmoshere for you and your horse to reflect, listen and communicate.

A flexible, friendly family run yard where horses are treated as individuals and their needs are met with enthusiasim, thought, knowledge and kindness.  Your horse is treated as one of their own.  Which is of high priority to me as I live a fair distance away from the yard.  I personally have the peace of mind that my horse is extremely well cared for in my absence."

Thanks Bill, Elaine and Lara and best wishes Carrie :)

"The first time I came to Elaine and Bill's yard was 5 years ago for a workshop Elaine organised with Perry Wood.  My horses sensed immediately the nice and calm atmosphere of the yard and felt at home immediately in their "luxury" meaning horse friendly big stables where they could see each other and had a wonderful view outside.  They have big fields and a wonderful hard stand area in the fields for the winter so that mud rash is not a problem (like it is for my horses at the moment).

I would highly recommend this yard to anybody because being in this yard one knows that one's horses are cared for and treated with respect.  If I would be living nearer my horses would certainly be there - I have been at many yards and know what it is like when one constantly have to worry about the welfare of one's horse when one is not around."

"I had my horse at Dun Daraich for over a year and it was one of the best experiences I have had.  Paddy was not an easy horse when he came, but with lots of support, patience and help from Bill and Elaine, he turned into a wonderful and happy animal.

We had physical problems as well as behavioural problems and the support was tremendous.  Both Bill and Elaine have a habit of knowing when to offer advice and support and when to step back and watch.  They will share your triumphs and be there when things don't go quite right - and always ready for a good laugh!

The facilities are excellent and I saw it grow and become even better during my stay.  I count Bill, Elaine and Lara among my very special friends, and Dun Daraich will always hold very special memories for me."
